Philippine Red Cross to Donate $100,000 to Australia Affected by Bushfires
The Philippine Red Cross is set to give a $100,000 donation to Australia which has been affected by devastating bushfires recently.
PRC Chairman and Senator Richard Gordon said on Friday that the Philippine Red Cross team will give $100,000 as a donation to those who are affected by the devastating wildfire in Australia.
“We will be giving $100,000 dollars sa Australian Red Cross. At least meron tayong kusang loob,” Gordon said at a press conference.
According to the report of GMA News, Gordon said the $100,000 is but a small amount compared to what the Australian Red Cross has given us but it comes from our good intentions. Gordon confirmed that PRC officials are expected to meet with Australian embassy officials to turn over the financial assistance.
“Mga Monday siguro (Maybe Monday) we’ll ask a representative of the embassy to come here and take the Red Cross donation of the Philippines with the amount of $100,000,” he said.
Gordon said this isn’t the first time they have extended help to other countries in need. He said the PRC donated $2.3 million to Japan in 2011 after by a powerful tsunami ravaged them.
Gordon said the PRC also donated $37,000 to Nepal in 2015; $25,000 to Gaza in 2014; $15,000 to Myanmar and $20,000 to China in 2008; $85,000 to Indonesia and $10,000 to Pakistan in 2006; and $25,000 to United States in 2005, according to GMA News.
