Fake Php 1,000 Bills Allegedly Dispensed by a Mall ATM in Taytay to a Man
MAN – A certain Rodrigo Casas Jr. allegedly withdrew fake Php 1,000.00 bills from an ATM in a shopping mall in Taytay, Rizal.
Undeniably, a lot of people line up to ATM machines before the Christmas and New Year celebrations. They are withdrawing money to be used for the expenses on food, gifts, games, etc.
Most Christmas bonuses and 13th month pays are also given by companies through the bank account of employees. You really need to make sure you are not in a rush if you want to withdraw some money during the holiday season as the line may really challenge you.
However, in Taytay, Rizal, something unexpected allegedly took place. Based on a report on GMA News’ Balitambayan, a man allegedly withdrew fake Php 1,000.00 bills from an ATM in a shopping mall.
The owner of the account was identified as Rodrigo Casas Jr. According to him, they found out that the bills released to him by the ATM were fake when his sibling used it in buying to a hardware store.
The staff at the unnamed hardware store found out that the bills were fake as it is smooth. Based on the report, the staff also used a money detector to check the money.
Reportedly, the bank has yet to give an official statement over the incident. The investigation is now ongoing and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) assured that it is safe to use the ATM.
The BSP reminded the public to turn-over the money right away in case there are suspicions regarding the bills. The government body also reminded the public that faking bills is punishable under the law.
