Fire In Duljo Fatima Destroys 70 Houses, 400 People Displaced

DULJO FATIMA – A fire that occurred in Sitio C. Padol, Barangay Duljo Fatima, Cebu City, destroyed at about 70 houses and 400 people displaced.

According to SunStar, Crisandy Muños, one of the residents said that she woke up from a nightmare.

The fire that struck the said location at about 4: 35 PM Thursday were drawing near her house as she and her family were fast asleep, exhausted from the celebration. A commotion woke her up from her slumber.

“It was also a good thing that some neighbors made sure we knew that there was a fire and it was fast approaching. We immediately gathered the children and grabbed some clothes and ran for cover,”

The Muños family was among the 400 people that were displaced by the fire, which also destroyed at about 70 houses.

Fire Senior Insp. Arnel Abella, ground commander of the Cebu City Fire Station, said that he is still investigating reports that it started in a house owned by Judith Campaner.

At that time, not one of the residents in the said house was present as they are believed to have gone on vacation.

Abella further said that they are still looking into what caused the fire to occur.

Based on the report, it was raised to fourth alarm at about 5:09 PM and was declared under control at about 5:55 PM.

Based on the report, Abella added that he and his men are currently verifying that there was one person missing, while a teenager who started hyperventilating was rushed to a hospital.

Damage to properties sums up to about ₱150,000 since the destroyed properties were made of light materials.
