Lady Was Arrested and Jailed After Stealing Grocery Items for “Media Noche”

MANILA, Philippines — A 42-year-old lady was arrested and jailed in Marikina City for allegedly stealing from a community grocery store for their “Media Noche”

According to the report of Inquirer, the suspect, whose name was withheld for her security, went to buy items at the establishment along Bayan-Bayanan Avenue just a day before New Year’s Media Noche, a Spanish term for New Year midnight meal.

The woman was caught inside a grocery store in Marikina City. A security guard caught her and found from his bag a several groceries worth P585.34.

A lightbulb, Italian Spicy Sauce; Nata de Coco; cheese; and 0.13 grams of grilled pork were the products found inside the suspect’s bag. She reportedly went out of the store without paying for the items.

A security guard on duty cornered her to check her shoulder bag. Because the woman failed to show the receipt, she was immediately arrested by the security guard.

According to Police Master Sergeant Eric Forsal, the suspect is probably to prepare the stolen grocery items for ‘Media Noche’. Forsal also said that the woman had not spoken to her after the incident.

It is currently detained at the Marikina police station while it is preparing a complaint and appropriate charges are being readied against her.
