FIRECRACKER INJURY HOME REMEDIES – Celebrating the New Year with firecrackers has been one of the oldest traditions of the Filipino people.
However, this tradition oftentimes leads to several accidents caused by firecrackers. Along with this, during the New Year’s celebration, clinics and aid become scarce.
That’s why in this article, we will tell you more about some home remedies you could do in case of a firecracker related injury or accident.
According to Doctors, you could use egg whites and ice as effective first-aid for firecracker injuries. But, you should also remember to keep the basic first-aid kits ready.
Based on an article from Inquirer, Dr. Bernard Adajar of Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center advised using ice and eggs on injured patients before rushing them to the closest hospital or clinic.
Adajar advised that that egg whites must be administered immediately in the event of a firecracker ingestion.
He said that the eggwhites acts as an antidote against the poison present when a patient accidentally ingest firecrackers like watusi.
The Doctor also advised the public to keep ice on the ready in case somebody gets a finger blown off by exploding firecrackers.
In addition, he said to clean the wash the wound with clean water even without any soap. Afterward, wrap the wound with a clean towel, then bring the patient to a hospital.
In the event that a finger does get removed, it’s best to place it inside a clean container with ice. However, putting it on water must be avoided.
