Entertainment columnist Cristy Fermin questioned the dependency of Claudine Barretto on her older sister Gretchen Barretto.
Early of 2019, Clau and Greta found the opportunity to reconcile after several years of feuding against each other. Many fans of the Barretto sisters expressed happiness that they rekindled their love for each other. Unfortunately, they are still having conflicts with their other sister, Marjorie Barretto.
Since Clau and Greta reconciled, they became more visible together on social media. They would share their bonding moments together, along with the Optimum Star’s children. When the news about their reconciliation surfaced, reports also circulated that Greta is the one supporting her younger sister financially. Claudine even shared that it was her Ate Gretchen who paid for her hospital bills when she got sick.
This year, fans of the Optimum Star have been anticipating her TV and movie comeback. However, her movie reunion with Piolo Pascual did not push through. Because of this, Cristy Fermin stated in her article, “Sa pagpasok ng taong 2020 ay maraming nagwi-wish na sana’y sipagin na at magkaroon ng disiplina si Claudine Barretto para makabalik na siya sa pag-arte.”
Fermin added that many people commented that her “arte” and “drama” would be very useful if she will just use it on her onscreen projects. This is because the actress has been away from the limelight for several years. “Napakalayo na ng itinakbo ng karera ng nakahiwalay niyang mister na si Raymart Santiago, samantalang si Claudine ay natutulog pa rin sa kahapon,” the columnist stated.
She also said that those people who have been requesting for Claudine’s showbiz comeback have a point because it will not be productive for her if she will just spend her time feuding with Marjorie. In addition, Cristy Fermin said in her article that she is not also fine if she will just depend on Gretchen’s financial assistance.
