2 Pinoys Dead, 4 Injured After Car Accident Lucky Plaza Centre in Singapore
SINGAPORE – 2 Pinoys dead and 4Â other pedestrians were injured after an accident happened involving a car at Lucky plaza shopping centre on Sunday afternoon, December 29, 2019.
According to the report of Channel News Asia, Minister and Consul General Adrian Candolada of the Philippine Embassy in Singapore confirmed the accident involved 6 overseas Filipinos. Candolada said two Filipinos died, while four others remain in the hospital, two of which are in intensive care.
Police arrested 64-year-old male driver for dangerous driving causing death. The car ran into women along a walkway near the shopping centre, said by person who witness the accident.
Channel News Asia said Lucky Plaza is known to be popular among Filipino domestic workers who gather there during their Sunday day off. The eyewitness said that the car crashed through a metal railing before landing on the side of the road next to the mall, hitting several people.
Video was uploaded online showing the moment before the accident. Women are seen on a walkway before a car screech and crash is heard off-screen, prompting screams and camera pans in time to catch the car landing and people are seen lying on the road below.
Two pedestrians were unconscious when they were rushed to the hospital, but the victims later succumbed to their injuries. Singapore’s Centre for Domestic Employees said it will get in touch with the employers and next-of-kin to find out the support they require, and was ready to render assistance, according to the report of Strait Times.
