URSULA DEATH TOLL RISES – The onslaught of typhoon Ursula hit several remote villages and popular tourist spots of the Visayas on Christmas Day, claiming at least 16 lives said authorities.

Christmas Storm Ursula (International Name: Phanfone) tore through the Visayas with winds of 195 kilometers per hour. The storm swept roofs off houses and cut the supply of electricity on Wednesday.
In addition to this, badly damaged areas had their network and phone lines cut. This caused the full assessment of Ursula’s damage to be delayed.

According to an article from ABS-CBN, at least 16 deaths have been confirmed in villages and towns of the Visayas. The storm also hit top tourist spots like Boracay, Coron, and other vacation destinations.
Along with this, the Kalibo airport which served Boracay suffered severe damages. In a statement, one Korean tourist described the situation he was in.
