SB19 Accused Of Being Racist By Confused Twitter Users
SB19 ACCUSED OF BEING RACIST – The Pinoy-pop group SB19 is making waves domestically with an ever-increasing fan base.
The group recently did a concert on Negros Island in the Visayas. However, a netizen on Twitter mistook their tweet to their fans on the island as something racist.
The tweet went:
We are now in your zone!
Excited na kami sa mga mangyayari sa aming first stop for our nationwide tour.
This somehow triggered some of the more uneducated Twitter users. Confused and angry, they retweeted SB19’s update and began their accusations.
One Twitter user, @cosmicnicks said:
“proves you shouldn’t stan the kpops they racist”. This then led to the Filipino fans trying their best to explain that Negros is an Island in the Philippines.
A netizen named Venus Manubag documented the twitter thread and uploaded it on Facebook.
Even after explaining it to the accuser, she still stuck to her perceptions that SB19 was racist. She simply replied with “Ok racist” to the people trying to explain.
One Netizen on Twitter, @riverhealy said this in response to SB19’s tweet:
“Slave masters when they approached tribed in Africa before forcing them into the slave ships:“
There was even one Twitter user that was shown a screenshot of google that showed the Island of Negros. One fan even explained that Negros was given the name by Spanish colonizers.
When given the google screenshot, the Twitter user merely dismissed it and said: “inspect element user. I know a fake webpage when I see one”.
What’s worse is, he tried googling it himself but put “Chinese Places” in the search bar instead. This left Filipinos having the biggest facepalms.
