Esmael and Zajid Mangundadatu have these statements on Maguindanao massacre verdict
Former Maguindanao Congressman Zajid Mangudadatu and Maguindanao Representative Esmael Mangudadatu gave their statement on the Maguindanao massacre verdict.
10 years ago, the brother of Zajid, Esmael Mangudadatu intended to file his candidacy against the Ampatuans who were in the government positions at that time. However, the dreadful tragedy happened, causing the death of more than 50 individuals, including supporters and members of the media.
On December 19, the court officially released the verdict. Accused Zaldy Ampatuan and Andal Ampatuan, Jr. were found guilty. This brought joy to the families of the victims who have been waiting for this day to come.
Esmael Mangudadatu arrived early Camp Bagong Diwa for the promulgation of the decision on the Maguindanao massacre case. He said that they have been expecting the guilty verdict against the Amaptuans. The Congressman added that the death penalty should be sentenced to the accused.
“Dapat bitay sa kanila para di na panularan. Inilalagay kasi nila ang batas sa kanilang kamay. Hindi dapat tularan yan,” Esmael Mangudadatu said speaking to The Philippine Star. He also said that public officials are servants and that they should not abuse their authority.
Meanwhile, Zajid Mangudadatu, felt excitement and fear while waiting for the Maguindanao massacre verdict. Prior to the release of the verdict, he said that their camp will respect the decision of the court. On the other hand, he is thankful that it finally happened after 10 years.
“Sa sampung taon na paghihintay natin, nakamit natin ang hustisya sa karumaldumal na Maguindanao massacre,” he said speaking to ANC News.
