Suspension To Be Implemented on Work in Courts this December 23, 2019 (Monday)

WORK IN COURTS – The duties in the court offices will be suspended on Monday, December 23, 2019, as announced by Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta.

The holiday season is here and many are busy gearing up for the upcoming Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. It is the most awaited month of most people as family gatherings and catching up with friends happen everywhere.

Also, the students are on a Christmas break. Workers in public and private offices may also be granted a break from work so they’ll have full opportunity to spend time with their loved ones this Christmas season.

Some companies have already announced the work suspension for the upcoming celebrations. Some won’t observe duties starting December 22 and December 23.

Work in Courts

With regards to the work in courts, based on a recent report on ABS-CBN News, it is suspended on December 23, 2019 (Monday). Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta announced the suspension.

In a memorandum, the Chief Justice stated that the work suspension is allowed provided that a skeletal force would remain in several offices. Based on the report, the offices include the following:

A. Supreme Court

  • Office of the Clerk of Court, EN Banc
  • Office of the Division Clerk of Court, First Division
  • Office of the Division Clerk of COurt, Second Division
  • Office of the Division Clerk of COurt, Third Division
  • Judicial Record Office
  • Fiscal Management and Budget Division
  • Office of Administrative SErvices, SC and
  • Office of Administrative SErvices, OCA

B. Court of Appeals
C. Sandiganbayan
D. Court of Tax Appeals, and
E. All first and second level courts

Reportedly, according to Peralta, all the employees and officials who will be working on December 23 are entitled to a 1-day compensatory day-off. December 24 is a special non-working holiday while December 25 is a regular holiday.
