Davao Del Sur Hit by Earthquake with 6.9 Magnitude

EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 6.9 magnitude quake in Davao Del Sur today, December 15, 2019 at 2:11 PM.

One of the strong quakes recorded by Phivolcs is the 7.1 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental. There were expected aftershocks due to the said quake and a tsunami advisory was released.

Previously, in April 22, Phivolcs recorded a quake in a part of Zambales. It had a magnitude of 6.1. Strong shaking were felt leaving people fearing about the so-called “Big One“.

As recorded by Phivolcs, there were several aftershocks that happen at 2:32 PM, 2:52 PM, 02:58 PM, 3:09 PM, 3:23 PM, 3:33 PM and 3:39 PM.

According to Phivolcs, the quake that hit a part of Southern Leyte was located at 06.80°N, 125.20°E – 009 km N 28° W of Matanao (Davao Del Sur). The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 003 kilometers.

As of this writing, there were no damage on the said region except for electricity since 2:20 PM.
