Compostela Valley To Be Renamed Davao De Oro

COMPOSTELA VALLEY – Many votes are in favor of renaming Compostela Valley, a province in Davao region, into Davao de Oro.

According to ABS-CBN News, the Provincial Board of Canvassers declared the results of a plebiscite on Sunday night in replacing ComVal.

About 174,442 votes are in favor of renaming the province, while 5,020 votes says otherwise.

According to Commision on Elections in their datos, about 179,953 out of 410,261 registered voters from 11 towns in the province participated in the plebiscite.

Atty. Remlane Tambuang, Comelec 11 Regional Director, the canvassing was gone due to the inaccuracy in tallying the voters in 4 towns.

Comelec further added that they will give a copy of the results to the governor and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) tomorrow.

Based on the report, it was in April 17, 2019 when President Rodrigo Duterte signed the Republic Act 11297 (RA 11297) where ComVal province will be renamed Davao De Oro.

Compostela Valley is one of the provinces in Davao Region. It is also known as Comval or Combal and one of the four newest provinces in the Philippines aside from Zamboanga Sibugay, Dinagat Islands, and Davao Occidental.
