Malaysian Execs Says That SEA Games Food Were Too Good To Resist
SEA GAMES FOOD – It seemed like all the criticisms and controversies regarding the 2019 SEA Games accommodation are all in the past.
At the early stages of preparation for the 2019 SEA Games, organizers were criticized for lapses in transportation, food, and accommodation. However, these problems have now been fixed.
In an article from the New Strait Times, the deputy president of the Malaysian Athletics Federation, Datuk Mumtaz Jaafar said the food being served in the Athletes’ village was “simply too good to resist”.
She added that the kitchen presented a large array of food and served up to six meals a day. Adding to this, it’s also open 23 hours every day.
According to an article from GMA, the athletes are being served breakfast starting from 5:00 a.m. Meanwhile, the last call for supper is at 4:00 a.m the following day.
The village also sports a total of 723 rooms, a pool, a basketball court, a gym, conference rooms, and the athlete’s lounge. As per the article, the main dining hall could also fit a thousand people.
With the athletics venue across the road from the Village, I’m afraid they might have too much time in their hands and the mess hall might become the focal point
Datuk Mumtaz Jaafar
She also lauded the facilities of the Athletes’ Village. However, she did mention that the track at the stadium was “a little soft”, which is why they came early to get used to the conditions.
The open-air Athletics Stadium will be used for the track and field events of the biennial meeting. This would include dash, pole vault, and discus throw.
The athletics tournament will start on December 6 and would end on December 10. Stay tuned for more updates.
