Update on NAIA Flight Suspension Due to Typhoon Tisoy
NAIA – The Ninoy Aquino International Airport gave an update on the flight suspension due to Typhoon Tisoy.
Recently, several parts of the Philippines experienced a bad weather condition. It is due to Typhoon Tisoy which is one of the strongest storms that hit the country this 2019.
Heavy rains were experienced in the different parts of the country for several days. Storm signals were also up which prompted the suspension of classes in the different areas around the country.
Many monitored the weather updates from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA). The government work in Metro Manila was also suspended.
Aside from classes and work duties, flights were also suspended for the safety of the passengers. More than one (1) hundred flights at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) mounted following the flight suspension.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) General Manager Ed Monreal expressed that 153 flights mounted since the gateway reopened. It was at 6:00 0’clock in the afternoon of Tuesday when the gateway was opened.
Speaking to DZMM, the MIAA General Manager expressed that they are hopeful that the flights will normalize in the next two (2) days. He assured that they will do their best and there won’t be additional flights.
Also, the MIAA is already coordinating with the airlines over the recovery flights. Initially, it was announced that the regular runway would be suspended for the recovery flights.
