Airline Opens First Restaurant That Only Serves Airplane Food
AIRLINE – The largest low-cost airline in Asia is positive that people love their in-flight meal so much that they opened their first restaurant.
Lots of people would admit that they hate airplane food. The food on the air vessel is pre-made food of re-heated. A chef named Grant Mickels said the cool, dry and cabin air will make our “taste buds go numb, almost as if you had a cold.”
Recently, an airline company decided to serve their plane food to the ground. Based on a report from CNN, the largest low-cost carrier in AirAsia are positive that people will like their plane food.
On Monday, December 2, AirAsia opened their first restaurant. The Malaysian based airline offered the same menu they sell on their flights. They plan to open more than 100 outlets globally.
Their first restaurant is located in a mall in Kuala Lumpur. They called it “Santan” which means ‘coconut milk’ in Malay. It is also the same branding the airlines used on their menus.
According to the report, the plane food cost around Php 150.00 or $3 USD. The restaurant also includes their delicacies such as chicken rice and Pak Nasser’s Nasi Lemak dish (rice dish with chili sauce). Coffee, desserts, and teas are also on the menu.
“We have seen a significant appetite for our in-flight menu offerings beyond our flights across the region and this is our answer to that demand,” AirAsia’s general manager Catherine Goh said.
Based on the report, the number of American restaurants in Malaysia and other neighboring countries are increasing. Among these food outlets are KFC, Domino’s Pizza, and McDonald’s.
