The preemptive evacuation is due to the threat of the typhoon Tisoy, internationally called Kammuri.

Moreno said that he aimed to keep the citizens safe from any possible danger the approaching storm will bring.

“Kasi po mas ninanais namin na mailigtas kayo sa anumang posibleng kapahamakan nitong darating na bagyo,”

According to ABS-CBN News, the residents living in the following areas will be sheltered in evacuation centers:

  • Baseco
  • Islang Puting Bato
  • Aroma
  • Happy Land

State weather bureau PAGASA said that Tisoy has made landfall over the town of Gubat, Sorsogon at Monday (December 2) 11 PM.

Due to this, the typhoon has slightly weakend. However, the bureau said that it is still very powerful, hence, residents should not be at ease yet.

As per the report, Moreno, echoing PAGASA’s statement, said that the storm may be stronger as it approaches Manila.

It is currently packed with maximum sustained winds of about 155 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 235 kilometers per hour.
