This new market research app will be utilized to improve the Facebook “family” of offerings. Among these are Instagram, WhatsApp, Portal, Oculus, and Facebook itself.

Throughout the year, Facebook had been facing criticism that they are taking advantage of data shared on their platform. The social media platform gets its profits from ads directed toward the user.

According to an article from ABS-CBN, Facebook’s product manager Erez Naveh stated that they believed the best way to make products better is getting direct insight from the people who use them.

Adding to this, participants of the survey could accumulate points which would be sent to people via PayPal. Also, people who create accounts in the Viewpoints app would be invited to participate in programs.

Naveh added that the first program would be a well-being survey that aimed to collect insights from its users. This would then be used to curb the negative effects of social media while enhancing its benefits.

When creating an account on Viewpoints, your personal information like name, age, gender, and country will be gathered. In addition, only people aged 18 and above will be allowed to set-up an account.
