Class Suspension Declared In These Areas on Monday (November 25)
WALANG PASOK – Several local government units have declared class suspension in different areas due to a regionwide transport strike.
Transport strike is a stoppage of operation of the public utility vehicles to show their opposition to the administration. It usually occurs when operators and the supporting staff refuse to work because of grievance against the company.
Transport groups usually focus their strike and protest regarding the wages, benefits, and working conditions. Strike causes inconvenience to thousands of Filipino commuters relying on public vehicles to reach their destinations.
On Monday (November 25, 2019), several local government units announced the cancellation of classes in various areas due to the regionwide transport strike.
The class cancellations have been made to ensure the safety of the students from possible danger brought by the protests and rallies.
Here is the list of areas covered by the suspension of classes:
- Camalig, Albay – All levels, Public and Private
- Daraga, Albay – All levels
- Guinobatan, Albay – All levels
- Ligao, Albay – No suspension of classes in all levels for public schools. However, teachers and students affected by transport strikes shall be excused from classes. Class cancellations for private schools (preschool to college) shall depend on the discretion of school heads.
- Malinao, Albay – All levels, Public and Private
- Oas, Albay – High school (junior and senior high school) and college, public and private
- Pio Duran, Albay – All levels
