Joker Sequel In The Works Confirmed By Studio
JOKER SEQUEL – The highest-grossing R-Rated film of all time, “Joker”, was confirmed to have a sequel in the works.
Based on reports, the director of the movie, Todd Philips is likely to team up with Joaquin Pheonix. Adding to that, Phillips was expected to write the script with Scott Silver, who wrote the first film’s screenplay.
The film’s studio, Warner Bros. was said to already have an option for a sequel for Joker. Along with this, Joaquin Pheonix also became a strong contender for the “Best Actor” category for the next Oscars.
With this, people are now wondering what type of sequel the movie is going to be. But, fear not, because its director already gave hints about what he might do.
According to an article by the Los Angeles Times, the director said that the next film wouldn’t just be “wild and crazy”. He added that it would have to be more thematic and resonate in a similar way the Joker did.
Because of the film’s massive success, there’s no wonder that a sequel was already in the works. Even before it’s global release, the film already received an 8-minute standing ovation at the Venice film festival.
Afterward, it soon took over Deadpool’s spot as the best-selling R-Rated Film of all time. The film had already crossed the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office, becoming the first one to do so.
What’s more impressive is that the movie only had a budget of $62.5 million. This was far less than DC’s other movies that hit the billion-dollar mark.
