8 Year Old Boy Raising Money For Homeless Veterans Since 4-Years-Old
8-YEAR-OLD BOY – A young man named Tyler Stalling had been raising money to help the homeless since he was 4-years-old.
This boy from Maryland has been helping veterans in need with one care package at a time. When he was four, his mother, Andrea Blackstone showed him a video about veterans.
She wanted to teach Tyler about his relatives who were in the military. One time, they watched a video about homeless veterans who were struggling.
As he saw the video, Tyler was compelled to do something about it. Based on an article from People, Tyler said that he didn’t like it.
Tyler’s mom recalled him asking, “If they’re heroes, why should they be on the street?”. Initially, Tyler wanted to build houses for the homeless vets, however, his mother had a more plausible idea.
She went to Governor Larry Hogan. He then gave the 8-year-old boy a 100$ grant to use in his campaign.
Soon, that small donation turned into Tyler’s very own mission that he continued for four years. He then joined Maryland Center for Veteran Education.
There, he went into training and became an advocate for awareness regarding the struggles of veterans. “It was supposed to be a one-time thing, but it turned into an all the time event“, said Blackstone
During this time, Tyler thought of the idea for “Hero Bags”. These are packs that include clothes, bath products, food and bedding.
These are then passed out to homeless veterans. “They should have the things they need because of all the good thing they’ve done for our country“, said Tyler.
