According to his son, Marky Mark Ajero, the 61-year-old teacher was teaching her class when the earthquake happened. As a reflex, she quickly grabbed her students and hugged them to shield them from debris.

Because of this, she got hit in the head from a collapsing wall as she protected her students. When her son heard about the incident, he got nervous.

It turned out that his mother had a history of head injury. But, despite that fact, she didn’t hesitate to protect her students.

In an interview with Philippine Star, his son said that her mother was teaching in the daycare for 25 years. He added that she treats her students like her own kids.

Uunahin po niya kapakanan ng mga bata niya bago sarili po niya“, said Marky. Her son wanted her to retire from teaching, however, Erlinda said that teaching was a huge part of her life.

According to reports, Marky’s mother was now in a stable condition. His son said that she is resting at home since a majority of the hospitals were hit by the quake.

He also added that most of her students were doing fine. Most of the students who were injured were released, however, there was one who was transferred to a hospital in Davao City due to a fractured hand.
