Mindanao Earthquake Survivors Pleads For Food, Water, & Shelter On The Streets
MINDANAO EARTHQUAKE – The massive, successive quakes that jolted parts of Mindanao left thousands homeless.
Hungry and afraid, the survivors took to the streets and pleaded for help. Residents near the Davao Del Sur – Cotabato border asked for food, water, and tarpaulins for shelter from passing vehicles.
Reports from Raffy Tima of GMA said that help from the government was slow according to the evacuees. Other residents say that most of the help focuses on evacuation centers.
You could see the residents holding up signs and banners. All of them pleading for help on the sides of the road.
“Mangayo Tabang, Tubig, Pagkaon, Tambal” (We need help, Water, Food, and Shelter), said the signs the evacuees held up. You could even see kids desperate to get the attention of drivers passing by.
The heartbreaking photos got netizens talking on Twitter. Some of them were calling out President Duterte, asking for help.
The President was previously criticized for his statements regarding the earthquake. Based on reports from GMA, he said “Pareho lang naman tayo dito, wala mang cover. Magdasal ka na lang buti pa“.
