According to ABS-CBN News, the bureau’s director Renato Solidium said that the Tsunami Analytics app that they launched is for the local government units (LGUs) to correctly prepare for possible tsunamis.

The app is set to launch at the same time the World Tsunami Awareness Day will be celebrated, which is in November 5 (Tuesday).

The app is similar to the previously launched HazardHunterPH on July, which provides hazard information and assessment in a certain area.

The bureau will also have a drill on the same day in Quezon City, in which they will demonstrate tsunamis that happened in certain areas and how the LGUs dealt with the calamity.

The unity of the Philippines in the celebration is one way to raise awareness and improve preparedness when it comes to this calamity.

As per the report, this is in lieu of an ongoing regarding information that a tsunami occurred in the quake-hit Cotabato.

Solidium clarified that the tsunami did not occur because of Cotabato earthquakes, since it happened on land in the town of Tulunan. He further added that the magnitude is not strong enough to cause a tsunami.
