A waterspout usually forms along the dark flat base of a line of developing cumulus clouds. They could also potentially be more dangerous than tornadoes.

The video was captured on Friday afternoon around 3:00 p.m. Dark clouds could also be seen in the video which may have caused the waterspout.

According to reports from GMA’s 24 Oras Weekend, the waterspout passed through several boats as it approached the shore. However, there were no reports of damages.

Most waterspouts closely resemble weak tornadoes. Some of which are called landspouts because of this similarity.

The rotation occurs at low levels in the atmosphere, so the resulting vortex does not extend very far up into the cloud. But, the largest recorded was about 3600 feet tall and about 1000 feet wide.

There are two types of waterspouts: Tornadic Water Spouts and Fair Weather Water Spouts.

Tornadic waterspouts are tornadoes that form over water or move from land to water. They have the same traits as a land tornado.

They are associated with intense thunderstorms. Along with this, strong winds and seas, large hail, and frequent dangerous lightning are also included.

However, in the video, it seemed like the waterspout formed is a Fair Weather water spout. These form along the dark flat base of a line of developing cumulus clouds which can be seen in the video.

Fairweather waterspouts form in light wind conditions so they normally move very little. These types of ipo-ipo or waterspout are less dangerous than tornadic ones.
