Although the meteor showers are on the faint side, they still make up for it. There are an estimated half of the meteors leaving persistent trains, or ionized gas that lasts a few seconds after the meteor itself is gone.

There are also exceptionally bright meteors from the Orionid shower. These meteors break up into fragments and burn up as they enter the atmosphere.

The Orionid Meteor Shower radiates from the constellation Orion. Meteor showers that are visible annually are named for the point in the sky from which they radiate.
