ROMANESQUE – In this topic, we will now know and learn the art and architecture of the Romanesque period and their characteristics.
Architecture
It is an architectural style in Europe that is best described by its semi-circular arches. No one knew how it actually began but its early existence dates back in the 6th to 11th century. The term Romanesque means “descended from Roman”.
This was eventually succeeded by Gothic style. The style combines parts of ancient Roman and Byzantine architecture. It is also known with the following characteristics;

- decorative arcading.
The buildings also have defined forms that are usually of regular symmetrical plan. The style is more on simplicity overall.
