The Brooklyn-based product design company MSCHF released a NIKE Air Max 97 shoe they called the “Jesus Shoes.” Based on a report from Yahoo News, the shoes were injected with holy water from the Jordan River in the Middle East.

A pair of Nike Air Max 97 that cost $1,425 or P73,520 sold out in one minute. The controversial shoe is adorned with a steel crucifix.

According to the report, MSCHF Head of Commerce Daniel Greenberg said they injected the holy water into the midsole of the ‘Jesus Shoes.’

His friend was the one who retrieved 1 gallon of water from the river and shipped it to New York City. It was the location where Jesus Christ was baptized. They also scented the customized shoe with resin frankincense.
