DFA Urged Filipino In Japan to Stay Vigilant Of Hagibis

DFA – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) recently warned the Filipinos in Japan to steer clear of typhoon Hagibis.

According to ABS-CBN, there are about 290,000 Filipinos that are residing from Japan. The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) said that brutal winds and violent seas will be faced by the west to the northeast of Japan.

The Foreign Affairs department recently said in a statement that the Embassy has asked Filipinos in Japan to be careful, further adding that heavy rains, strong winds, high waves, and storm surges are likely to occur. The department further said that the Filipinos should refrain from travelling to affected areas until the typhoon dissolves.

The status of Hagibis have recently demoted from being a supertyphoon. However, it is still packed with gusts of up to 216 kilometers per hour if it makes landfall on late Saturday.

As per the report, the storm force the cancellation of the following;

  • 2 Rugby World Cup matches
  • Suzuki Grand Prix
  • Flights
  • Train Operations

Hagibis is predicted to dump half-meter f rain in Tokyo in the next 24 hours to midday on October 13 (Sunday).
