Sheryn Regis revealed battle against thyroid cancer.
SHERYN REGIS – Singer and Star in A Million finalist Sheryn Regis admitted and revealed that struggled with and battled against thyroid cancer.
The US-based and Star in A Million finalist Sheryn Regis is known for her style of singing belting out high tunes and birit songs. She even sang the theme songs of these famous series such as Marina, Krystala, Kampanerang Kuba, Gulong ng Palad, Maria Flordeluna and Prinsesa ng Banyera.
Some year being in the industry, she decided to stay in the United States but still would often accept projects and concerts here in the Philippines. However, for quite some time, we haven’t heard her sing and she has this shocking reason behind this.
In a press conference, the US-based Pinay singer admitted that had struggled with thyroid cancer which is very dangerous for her voice that a big possibility about it is that she can lose it. She found out about this way back 2016.
Based on a report from Push, she shared, “I had to undergo surgery. It was crucial for me kasi pag tinanggal, it was a thyroid cancer, ‘pag tinanggal, alam mo ba maaring (taamaan) yun nerves. Pwede ako mawalan ng boses, sobrang it was really bad. ‘Di ko lang sinabi agad-agad sa inyo, akala ko kasi baka pagsabihin ko na ganun, wala nang bibilib sa akin na makakanta pa ako. The last time I sang, it was with Jonalyn, it was in 2016, hirap na hirap ako, ‘di ko lang sinabi talaga na kaka-surgery ko lang noon. I had to sing.”
Emotional remembering this certain phase of her life, she shared that after the surgery, she was not allowed to sing without knowing what could be the effect on her voice. She was even advised not to talk but she still did gradually so as to practice her voice. But her talent was put to test when a month after, she had a show and she struggled singing.
But now, she is already free of cancer and just taking some medication and actually set to do a major concert next year as per the report.
