Here’s the reason why Sheryn Regis left showbiz in 2016
Star In A Million 2003 runner-up Sheryn Regis revealed the reason why she left showbiz back in 2016.
Sheryn placed second to Kapamilya singer Erik Santos during the said singing competition a few years ago. She did several hit songs and her single Come In Out Of The Rain was reached platinum. The Cebuana singer is considered as one of the biriteras in the Philippine music industry because of the high notes that she can hit.
Throughout her career after the contest, she was already labeled with various monikers such as Crystal Voice of Asia, Shining Diva, The Modern Jukebox Queen, Queen of Teleserye Theme Song, and Power Belter. She was also known as the voice behind several hit theme songs of Kapamilya teleseryes.
For several years now, Sheryn Regis is living in Texas as she continues to do various singing stints. In 2013 and 2014, she visited the Philippines and did several TV appearances that delighted her Filipino fans. However, based on the report from PEP, she was forced to turn her back from performing because of this particular reason.
“I found out I have cancer,” the singer said during a press conference that was held last October 4. She was talking about the thyroid cancer that she had. Because of this, she decided to have her hiatus. “Hindi na ako nagpakita,” she shared as she had to undergo surgery.
For her, that moment was crucial because she had a fear that she will no longer receive projects if people would found out. On the other hand, Sheryn said that she believes that she is now cancer-free. She is set to have her series of shows in Casino Filipino.
