Mars Looks More Like Cookies-and-Cream Ice Cream Than ‘Red Planet’

Millions of people are interested in what’s beyond your planet most especially the planet Mars. The scientist from America’s space agency National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is currently investigating the planet.
NASA has deployed its latest and most high-tech machines to explore Mars’ surface. The agency has been sharing several footages of the ‘Red Planet’ for several years now.
Meanwhile, the European Space Agency (ESA) and Russia’s Roscosmos released the stunning image they captured from Mars’ frozen dunes on social media. Based on a report from International Business Times, the planet’s North Pole looked like ‘Cookies and Cream’ ice cream.
ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter took the latest image from the Red Planet. It is a collaborative project between Roscosmos and ESA. The agency explained the unique appearance of the frozen dunes.
“Dunes come in various characteristics shapes on Mars just as on Earth, providing clues about the prevailing wind direction… monitoring them over time also gives us a natural laboratory to study how dunes evolve, and how sediments in general are transported around the planet.”
According to the report, the layer of ice in Mars transforms into vapor at the start of the spring season. The Martian sand and ice taps gas while it melts. The gas will only be released once dit cracks. That’s the reason for the dark spots on the surface of the dunes.
