Provinces Of Zamboanga Peninsula | Regions Of The Philippines
PROVINCES OF ZAMBOANGA PENINSULA – In this topic, we will now discuss the four provinces of Zamboanga Peninsula or Region IX.
Also known as Tangway ng Zamboanga, or formerly Western Mindanao, it is one of the regions in Mindanao, one of the three island groups in the Philippines.
It is composed of three provinces and two highly urbanized cities: Zamboanga City in Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela City in the island of Basilan. Pagadian is the regional center of the Zamboanga Peninsula
It is assigned as Region IX and has a population of more than 3 million people, as of 2015.
Provinces
Here are the following three provinces:
- Zamboanga del Norte (Capital: Dipolog)
- Utara Sembwangan or Amihanang Zamboanga is one of the provinces that is located northwest of the region. It is also the region’s largest province.
- Zamboanga Del Sur (Capital: Pagadian)
- S’helatan Sembwangan or Habagatang Zamboanga is the south east province of the peninsula. It is home to Pagadian, the peninsula’s regional center.
- Zamboanga Sibugay (Capital: Ipil)
- It is one of the three provinces of the region. The name Sibugay comes from the Bay located south of the province called Sibugay Bay or Sibugey Bay
