Ninoy Aquino’s Statue Removed From Quezon City
The authorities removed Ninoy Aquino’s Statue in Quezon City after its base was damaged by road clearing operations.
On Friday (September 13, 2019), Quezon City government personnel removed the statue of the late senator Benigno ‘Ninoy’ Aquino Jr. at the corner of Quezon and Timog Avenue as a part of the traffic decongestion program.
The statue has been taken down with the permission and blessing of the Aquino family. The QC government workers remove the statue after its base was damaged by clearing operation conducted by Department of Public Works and Highways.
The city government will keep the statue at a storage facility until they find a relocation for the image of the late lawmaker. The authorities are still looking at other sites for the relocation including the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife as well as the Manila Seedling Bank.
The Pinay actress Kris Aquino, the daughter of Ninoy Aquino wanted the statue to be transferred at Manila Seedling Bank while former president Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III preferred to have the statue at the Ninoy Aquino Parks.
