Prison Guard Hurt After Stabbed by Bilibid Inmate Inside NBP’s Maximum Security Compound
A prison guard assigned at the maximum security compound of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) was injured after allegedly stabbed by an inmate.
On Thursday (September 12, 2019), a Muntinlupa official reported that one of their prison guard was hurt after stabbed by an inmate. The jail guard was immediately rushed to the hospital after the incident.
Muntinlupa Chief Police Colonel Gerardo Umayao released an initial report stating that the NBP inmate identified as Wilson Topic stabbed the prison guard Correction Inspector Ferrer for an unidentified reason.
Inspector Ferrer sustained superficial stab wound on his lower abdominal and immediately given medical care at the hospital. Muntinlupa police will work together with the Bureau of Corrections to investigate the incident.
However, the Department of Justice (DOJ) reported that the suspect is suffering from a mental disorder called ‘Schizophrenia’.
“Initial investigation indicates that Duty Officer Edgardo Ferrer was stabbed at 8:40 this am by a PDL (Person Deprived of Liberty) suffering from schizophrenia,” Justice Undersecretary and DOJ Spokesperson Markk Perete said.
