High School Swimmer Wins Rave, Disqualified Over ‘Wardrobe Violation”
HIGH SCHOOL SWIMMER – A high school swimmer was disqualified after winning the swim meet because her swimsuit is “exposing too much.”
It’s important to obey the rules and regulations to have a disciplined society. We are trained to abide by the rules in our schools, workplace, or anywhere to avoid trouble.
In sports, there are also rules that should be followed to avoid disqualification. Meanwhile, a swimmer was recently disqualified for allegedly not wearing the proper swimming attire.
Based on a report from CNN News, a 17-year-old state championship winner got disqualified during their high school meet on Friday in Anchorage, Alaska. Her swimsuit allegedly exposed too much of her buttocks. The incident turned into a dispute over the swimsuit of the athlete.
The referee of the swimming competition declared that the high school student named Breckynn Willis’s team-issued uniform violated their rules. A lifelong swimmer and Director of YMCA Aquatics Lauren Langford reacted on the disqualification issue.
“The perception is that a victory was stolen unnecessarily,” said Langford.
According to the report, Langford believed that the young swimmer was being punished for her athletic physique. Willis gained strength and speed due to her years of training. It was so unfair considering she wore the same uniform with the rest of the team.
“It is my opinion that she has been targeted and singles out over the course of the last year,” she said.
Based on the report, the mother of the young athlete, Meagan Kowatch, said the organization should be focusing on her swimming skills and not on her attire. Willis’ disqualification came after she won the swimming competition.
