Kapamilya A-list actor John Lloyd Cruz directed the new music video of Sugar Hiccup for the song Saturnine Nevermore.

When Lloydie took his temporary leave of absence from all his showbiz engagements two years ago, he ventured into different kinds of visual arts. Through his social media posts, he shared his interests in painting, photography, and videography.

He took his artistry to the next level when he also ventured into directing. John Lloyd shared on his recent Instagram post the black and white video he did which was shot from September to December 2017 during his travel. Based on the report from ANCX, the actor shared that some of the shots were filmed in Europe while some were in the Philippines. When asked if he shot the videos when he was traveling alone, Lloydie has a meaningful response. “I’ve always felt alone when I’m shooting,” he shared.

Video Producer Erwin Romulo said that the track was given to John Lloyd Cruz and he was tasked to fill the meaning of the song. instead of having a fixed planning or concept for the video. The A-list actor revealed that he never met the band but Sugar Hiccup has become part of his life. “Their music was my only guide,” he said.

Sugar Hiccup’s Saturnine Nevermore music video reflects empty spaces, void places that somehow wants to tell something. When asked about this, based on the article, the actor said there is nothing significant about his videos. “They are all passive and almost very easy to ignore,” he added. He described his shots as “moments and sights profoundly undermined by greed and fakeness.” The actor added that they are his excusee to look away and ask further. John Lloyd Cruz was seen twice in the video but for a brief moment only.
