Duterte Assures Naga Landslide Victims Will Get House And Lot For Free

RODRIGO DUTERTE – President Rodrigo Duterte told Naga City landslide survivors that they would all receive a house and lot for free.

Duterte made the statement as he headed the groundbreaking ceremony and capsule-laying rites of a housing project for the Naga City landslide victims. The President mandated the National Housing Authority (NHA) to give the housing units to the survivors without any charges.

In his speech uploaded by RTV Malacanang, he added that he wanted affected families of Typhoon Sendong and Zamboanga conflicts to get free shelters as well. According to Malacañang, 192 houses are to be erected for the landslide survivors situated withing the one-kilometer no build zone.

Project heads said that the housings could be finished in six to seven months. The P90 million housing project will be constructed inside a 2.1 hectare land owned by the Cebu government.

Survivors of the calamity would get a housing unit with a 26 square meter floor area. The location of the establishments would be in Barangay Inoburan and Tinaan in Naga City.

Duterte then showed his appreciation to the local city government for inviting him to the groundbreaking ceremony. He added that the event was the culmination of the administrations commitment to provide an affordable resettlement site for the landslide victims of 2018.

The President then stated that with the combined efforts and commitment of public and private sectors, he is confident that we could overcome any calamity. He added that when united in these disasters, the Nation would emerge stronger and more resilient.

Kristine Vanessa Chion, the acting Naga City Mayor, stated that 418 families were migrated from the danger zone. Although only 213 availed the housing units.
