PAGASA – Liwayway Strengthens Further, Closer To Exiting PAR

PAGASA – Liwayway, also called Lingling, strengtherns further on Thursday (September 5) as it draws near exiting the PAR, PAGASA says.

Liwayway, was spotted at 10 AM at about 555 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes.

A report from Inquirer states that it is now strengthening and packed with maximum sustained winds of 165 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 205 kilometers per hour.

The weather disturbance is currently moving north at 15 kilometers per hour and is closer to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility, which is expected to happen on Thursday afternoon or evening.

As per the report, the agency still announced that Batanes and the Babuyan Group of Islands will experience light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains.

On the other hand, Ilocos Region and the Cordillera Administrative Region face scattered light to moderate rains, with chances of isolated heavy rain on thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon or habagat.

It has also been reported that a new low pressure area is now spotted 860 kilometers east northeast of the municipality Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur as of 10 a.m.
