Netizens expressed hate to Imelda Marcos due to her letter requesting Sanchez’s clemency
Former first lady and Ilocos Norte Representative Imelda Marcos elicited hate comments from netizens due to her letter requesting the clemency of convict Antonio Sanchez.
Once again, the name of the wife of the late President Ferdinand Marcos caught the attention of the online community. This time, it focused on the letter involving the controversial former Mayor who was convicted of rape and murder.
Reports stated that the letter of Marcos to President Rodrigo Duterte dated May 29, 2017 surfaced. In the letter the female politician stated her recommendation for Sanchez’s appeal for clemency. This did not sit well with netizens. They criticized the former first lady for what she did two years ago.

Reportedly, the family of Sanchez also asked helped to other prominent personalities for his clemency. According to reports, former Laguna Gov. ER Ejercito, and former Supreme Court Associate Justice Arturo Brion also wrote a letter vouching the good behavior of Sanchez. In addition, the name of Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo also surfaced as one of the people who wrote a letter for the former mayor’s clemency.
