The government official was one of the prominent personalities in the Philippines who gave his reaction regarding the said issue. It can be recalled that actor-politician Alfred Vargas as a Congressman previously expressed his support to the bill that would declare that teachers should no longer give homeworks to their students.

Several groups of teachers disagreed and even actress Aiko Melendez slammed the lawmaker for supporting the bill. On the other hand, there are also several government officials who expressed support to the no-homework policy. One of them is DFA Sec. Teddy Locsin, Jr.

Proposed Bills

He gave his opinion through his Twitter post. Locsin shared an article from Inquirer in which it was stated that Senator Grace Poe will file a bill that would prohibit teachers to give students homeworks on weekends.

The post of the DFA Secretary has this caption: “The purpose is to put all the burden and responsibility for academic performance on the teachers where it belongs. They’re paid well for it. Most students have no home to do homework in. M*r*ns. Go Grace, go Briones. Ignore the f*ck*ng m*r*ns against it.”

His Twitter post received mixed reactions from netizens. Some social media users agreed to what he said. However, Locsin also received criticisms.

Netizens who slammed the DFA Secretary stressed out that he was wrong when he stated that teachers are paid well. Some netizens said that the no-homework policy will be a disadvantage to students rather than it will do good on them. Here are some of the comments:
