PDEA Airs Concern Over Alleged Involvement Of Rappers In Illegal Drug Trade
PDEA – The Philippines Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) aired its concern about the alleged involvement of Filipino rappers in the illegal drug trade.
The task of the PDEA is to inspect, gather information, and arrest people who are involved in using and producing an illegal substance. They have successfully arrested thousands of users while under the administration of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
The anti-drug agency banned Shanti Dope’s song “Amatz.” They said the rap song allegedly promotes the use of illegal drugs and inappropriate for the youth.
Meanwhile, several Filipino artist reacted to PDEA following the banning of the Shanti Dope’s song. They said it’s not the government agency’s job to judge or critic anybody’s song.
Based on a report from Philstar, the agency expressed their concern about the alleged involvement of the Pinoy rappers in the illegal drug trade. Last month, they arrested three rappers.
PDEA arrested Alexis Baniqued, John Kenneth Satahirapan, and Arlny Dimabuyo a.k.a Xander Bay. The three of them were caught in possession of illegal substance and cannabis Sativa.
According to the report, PDEA Chief Aaron Aquino said lots of young people look up to these artists as role models. They should be guided properly to prevent getting influenced on drug use.
“This poses a danger to the younger generation whose vulnerable minds maybe misled that recreational use of illegal drugs is cool and harmless,” Aquino said.
Based on the report, Aaron Aquino earlier asked the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), Kapisanan Ng Mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas, and Movie and Television Review and Classification Board to ban songs that supposedly encourage the use of the illegal substance.
