JUST IN: Vilma Santos-Recto Elected As House Deputy Speaker

Rep. Vilma Santos-Recto Now Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives

VILMA SANTOS-RECTO – Batangas 6th District Representative Vilma Santos-Recto was elected as the House Deputy Speaker.

Just like the Senate, the House of Representatives has its own organized ladder of leadership. It is headed by the House Speaker and, recently, Taguig-Pateros Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano was elected as the House Speaker.

Cayetano succeeded former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in the post. He is the bet of the President for the position and they have met before the plenary voting.

Next to the House Speaker is the House Deputy Speaker. Those who are elected as House Deputy Speakers will stand in the place of the House Speaker in case of his absence.
