Malacañang Palace Declares August 16 as Non-Working Holiday

WALANG PASOK – Malacañang Palace released a proclamation declaring August 16, 2019, as a non-working holiday in Davao City.

On Thursday (August 1, 2019), the Palace released the Proclamation 774 declaring August 16 as a non-working holiday in Davao City due to the Kadayawan Festival.

Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea signed the proclamation on July 29, 2019 (Monday) after receiving the request from the Davao City’s Sangguniang Panlungsod.

“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Davao be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies,” the proclamation said.

Mr. Rodrigo Duterte is the Mayor of Davao City for over two decades before he won the presidency.

The Kadayawan Festival is one of the major festivals in the Philippines celebrated by the Davaoeños every year. The celebration includes a floral float parade, street dancing, and other activities. The festival will be held on August 1-31, 2019.
