Lottery Group Urges Duterte To Resume Lotto While Corruption Probe Continues

PH LOTTERY GROUP – The PH lottery group urged President Rodrigo Duterte to resume lotto operations while corruption probe continues.

A few days ago, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte abruptly stopped all the lotto, STL, Keno, Swertes and all Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) gaming activities in the country.

The Davaoeño chief executive said the alleged corruption on the agency won’t end unless he makes some changes in the office.

Ina previous article, PCSO general manager Royina Garma assured all the Filipino who will be asking for help in their office will still receive benefits in their charity program. She said they have enough budget to use until next year.

However, the agency is losing P30 to P50 million a day after the closure of the agency.

Based on a report from ABS-CBN News, the chairman of Philippine Online Lottery Agents Association, Nelson Santos, urged President Duterte’s administration to let the PCSO resume their operations while they are investigating the alleged corruption.

They believed that the banning of all the gaming activities will cause serious and devastating collateral damage to the workers.

According to the report, the chairman of the PH lottery group said he’s hoping to have a meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte and the PCSO general manager.

“Humihingi kami ng appeal sa president para lahat ng concerns mabigyan ng attensyon,” Santos said.

Based on the report, there are over 300 thousand workers or agents who are out of work now since the banning. The chairman of the PH lottery group is hopeful that Duterte will change his mind very soon.

“That’s why ang appeal naming sa president talagang ma resume tong aming operation,” said Santos.

Duterte’s administration hasn’t released any updates yet after the closure of the lotteries in the country.
