Philippine Senator Manny Pacquiao is among the legendary boxers in the world. The Filipino fighter has defeated several great boxers in his career.

The 40-year-old athlete has helped lots of his fellowmen through his public service and charities. In fact, he gave hundreds of houses to less fortunate people and built gyms for basketball and for boxing.

After Manny Pacquiao’s fight with the American boxer Keith Thurman, he traveled back to the Philippines to go back in his office. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to attend President Rodrigo Duterte’s 4th State of the Nation Address on July 22.

Previously, the 74-year-old chief executive said he wants to make the boxing champ the next president of the country.

On Monday, July 29, Senator Manny Pacquiao visited the Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso in his office.

Based on a report from ABS-CBN, the fighting senator’s admiration for Moreno rooted in their similar backstories. Both of them experienced poverty, hunger, and understands the feelings of the poor people.

“Itong mayor niyo, nakaranas din ng gutom, nakaranas din ng hirap. Kaya alam ko, ako mismo ang magtestify, alam ko na ang mga pangangailangan ng mahihirap, ng lipunan, ay nararamdaman niya,” said Pacquiao.

According to the report, Manny Pacquiao said his and Isko’s experience in life was an edge compared to other public servants who didn’t struggle in life.

“Mahirap talaga ang lider na hindi nakaranas ng paghihirap. Iba kasi ang alam iyong problem at iba naman ang hindi lang alam iyong problema kundi naranasan dahil hindi siya makatalikod sa pinanggalingan niya,” Manny said.

Based on the report, Pacquiao told the Manila city employees that they should be grateful for having an industrious leader. He also said Moreno has a great chance of serving his fellowmen in a wider political arena.

“Mayor, ipagpatuloy mo lang ang ginagawa mo. Malayo pa ang mararating mo. Baka hindi lang dito sa Maynila ang iyong seserbisyuhan,” he said.
