DOJ Wants NBI To Investigate Alleged Corruption in PCSO
DOJ – The Department of Justice ordered the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to investigate the alleged corruption in the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).
Currently, one of the issues on the surface is the suspension of the PCSO lotto draws. It was since Saturday, July 27, when the draws for both major and minor lotto games were suspended.
The suspension is pursuant to the order of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. The 74-year-old President gave the mandate amid the alleged massive corruption ongoing in the Philippine state gaming agency.
On the part of the PCSO, they assured that they will appeal to the Office of the President regarding the matter. Pres. Duterte wants the draw suspended as long as the corruption issues are not solved.
Based on a recent report on ABS-CBN News, the Department of Justice has broken its silence regarding the issue involving the PCSO.
The DOJ ordered the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to investigate the alleged massive corruption happening in the PCSO. The order was confirmed by Markk Perete, the spokesperson of the Department.
According to the report, there were already thousands of lotto stores and kiosks that were shut down. The authorities has closed at least 5,187 lotto stores nationwide.
A total of 13,320 small town lottery kiosks were already closed and as well as 2,194 Peryahan ng Bayan outlets. Based on the article, there were 472 KENO shops that were closed.
Meanwhile, with regards to the winners of Lotto and KENO who have yet to claim their prizes, according to PCSO, they can still claim it in their Mandaluyong branch. Regardless of the amount, as long as the better has the winning ticket, the price can be claimed.
