More than 60 Customs Officials & Employees Set To Be Fired by Pres. Duterte
DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte said that he is set to fire more than sixty(60) officials and employees of the Bureau of Customs next week.
Aside from cleaning the country from the presence of drugs, another staunch campaign promise of the President is to remove corrupt and erring officials in the government. He wanted a clean government that is truly committed for public service.
The former Davao City Mayor won a landslide victory in the 2016 presidential election. Since he assumed office, Pres. Duterte has fired several government officials and employees over alleged corruption.
He has previously removed from their posts officials of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) officials. There were three(3) of them removed from their posts including Undersecretary Maria Lourdes Turalde-Jarabe.
The President has also previously warned officials of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) to remove them from their posts over the water issue. Meanwhile, they have taken responsibility.
Recently, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte has issued another staunch warning based on a report on ABS-CBN News. According to him, he will fire more than sixty officials and employees of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) next week.
In a speech in Candon City, Ilocos Sur, the President stressed that he will have to clean the Customs. According to him, he has heard that there are corruptions in the said government agency.
“Sixty-four of them will be terminated next week. And 100 is coming. Then I will have cleaned the… Kasi sabi nila hindi daw talaga malinis-linis ang Customs,” he said based on the report.
According to the President, when he accepts the resignation of officials and employees facing corruption allegations, it also means he is removing them from their posts.
