Rico Blanco expressed dismay over “stupid headline” from popular showbiz site
Musician Rico Blanco ranted against showbiz news site Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP) for what he called “stupid headline”.
Rico is a former member of the 90s rock band Rivermaya. Eventually, he went solo.
Apparently, he is now making his comeback in the Philippine music industry and had a press conference just recently.
As an entertainment news website, PEP wrote about him and the headline of the article was “Rico Blanco, ayaw ma-label bilang Keannu Reeves ng Pilipinas”.
On July 8, the musician reacted against the headline. He said that it will get him into trouble. Rico also stressed out that he wanted to emphasize that Filipinos should not be labeled as local versions of global icons.
His tirade did not end there. He also included a snippet of the article, specifically the part when he answered the question about being tagged as the Keannu Reeves of the Philippines.
Because of this, the musician said that he will no longer invite PEP reporters in his press conference in the future.
After this, he again criticized the showbiz news site for reposting the same “stupid headline”. He even tagged PEP as “Paandar Entertainment Portal” and said that it is time to “expose the people” behind the site.
In addition, he also called the editorial team as “parang troll” for not putting their photos. Rico also included the photo of the editor-in-chief Jo-Ann Maglipon and said, “from fighting the martial law dictatorship to this??? what happened po??”
