7 Quakes Recorded as Mayon Volcano Shows Signs of Unrest, Phivolcs Says
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said that 7 earthquakes have been recorded as Mayon Volcano remains unrest.
On Wednesday (July 3, 2019), the volcanology agency reported that Mount Mayon continued to show signs of unrest.
Phivolcs recorded seven low-frequency earthquakes and a rockfall event over the past few hours.
The seismology bureau found weak to moderate white steam-laden emissions flows downslope.
The agency said that Mt. Mayon was spewing around 680 tons of gas emission per day, which is higher than its regular emission of 500 tons per day.
The volcanology institute also warned the public to avoid entering the six-kilometer danger zone and the seven-kilometer extended danger zone.
Mayon Volcano remained at alert level 2 indicating that the volcano is at a moderate level of unrest.
